From Kathmandu

I write this from the Temel area of Kathmandu, Nepal. I arrived two days ago with the GlacierWorks expedition team for five weeks of trekking and research split between two different scientific teams. The day after tomorrow we depart for our first leg of the trek to the Lirung Glacier in the Langtang region. But for now I have been busy exploring the sites of Kathmandu amidst our team’s preparations for the treks ahead.

Here is a photograph of a woman who was in need of food. I was without food but left her with some money as that was all I could then offer. She agreed to a portrait in return.
